Shine as one.
Most people focus on what individuals with intellectual disabilities can’t do. But when you shift the lens to what they can do, you see the truth: they’re just as talented, creative, and driven as anyone else.
When we were tasked with designing the logo for the 2022 Special Olympics USA Games in Orlando, we immersed ourselves in the spirit of the Games. It quickly became clear: this wasn’t our logo to create alone.
So we invited nine Special Olympian artists from across the country to Orlando for a hands-on design workshop. Together, we collaborated using the same process we bring to any professional logo project. Each artist created their own unique mark, and from those individual expressions, we built something collective. Pulling elements from each design, we formed the final identity: the “United O.”
